Yeshivas Birkas Yosef

The Birkas Yosef Yeshiva was established in 5752\1992 by Rabbi Yaakov Friedman, Rosh Yeshivas Tifrach, who still plays an important role in the Yeshiva through his profoundly wise advice and guidance and every so often comes into the Yeshiva to deliver lectures.

The Yeshiva is headed by Rabbi Mordechai Tzivion, a grandson of Rabbi Kanievsky shlit"a, who serves as the Yeshiva's spiritual dean.

The association includes three educational frameworks:

1.       A post-elementary school, which is recognized by the Education Ministry and  numbers approximately 90 students

2.       A Yeshiva Gedolah and Kollel Avreichim, which number about 240 students

3.       A dormitory for at-risk youth, which numbers 60 members

The Yeshiva is unique in that the educational staff not only invests much effort in advancing its students during school hours, but provides them with emotional support, educational advice and social guidance well beyond that.

For that purpose, the educational staff consists of a large number of members, who also receive additional assistance from the avreichim of the Kollel. Together, they join forces to dedicate themselves completely to the success of the Yeshiva students. And so it has come to be that throughout the years, we have merited seeing generations of Talmidei Chachamim and outstanding scholars emerging from the Yeshiva's gates, many of whom serve in key positions within flourishing communities and others who still dedicate their whole life to learning full-time.

As the need for an appropriate educational framework for at-risk youth rose, the Roshei Yeshiva decided that it was absolutely crucial to establish such a framework for boys who were straying off the Torah path and desperately needed guidance and help.

The framework is supported by the Welfare Department as a special project for frum at-risk youth.

Aside from limudei kodesh, the boys are taught a wide range of other subjects such as computers, orientation, kashrus, first aid, family life and more.

The educational framework, operated in a dormitory, employs a staff of skilled and crucial workers, such as social workers, psychologists etc.

The staff puts a strong emphasis on developing a warm and affectionate relationship with each and every student, and each student is allotted a personal coach who serves as his individual mentor and provides guidance and assistance every step of the way.

The framework also offers a broad range of extracurricular activities such as field trips, workshops, special lectures and trips
